Pastor Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel
Pastor Jacquelyn “Jackie” Gwinn-Villaroel is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and the 5th child of 6 born to the late Rev. Macon Gwinn, Sr. and First Lady Emeritus Betty Davis-Gwinn. Pastor Villaroel, or Pastor V or Pastor Jackie, as she is affectionately called, is a product of the Atlanta Public School System, she holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice and is completing her graduate studies. She has received numerous awards and achieved great accomplishments throughout her academic career.
She is not only just the Pastor of First Gethsemane Baptist Church, but she is also a Lieutenant for the Atlanta Police Department, serving for 20 years, securing our neighborhoods and building community morale. Her current role is now overseeing and administering the daily tasks and operations of the Zone 6 Day Watch officers; while yet still assisting over 2,400 employees within the Human Resource/Personnel Section. She is also a certified Senior Instructor with the state of Georgia; as well as a CPR/AED Instructor. She is extremely dedicated in transforming lives especially our youth. Pastor Jackie has been featured on Cops the TV Show, on various news outlets, has been seen on the Atlanta Housewives honoring Willie A. Watkins, and was on the Katie Couric Show for Team Shred with Dr. Ian Smith for the City of Atlanta. Most currently a “Spot Light Pastor” for the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN). People ask the question, “What can’t you do?” and she answers in kind, “I didn’t know that there were any limits in God!”
Pastor Villaroel is the mother of 13-year-old Christian and the wife of an Atlanta Police Captain David Villaroel. Family means the world to her along with serving the body of Christ. One of her mottos is, “There is a testimony behind my praise; because my story isn’t over yet.” Pastor Villaroel was installed as the Senior Pastor of First Gethsemane on July 8th, 2012 after the death of her father, the late great Pastor Macon Gwinn, Sr. She had been serving as Assistant Pastor for 6 previous years. Her vision for Gethsemane is thriving due to her obedience to God first and to this ministry. She’s a Dreamer, A Visionary, A Doer, A Thinker, and She sees possibility everywhere. As her late father, she is constantly blessing the people of God with her love and support as she is a “reachable servant”. Her boldness and her ability to preach the word of God where everyone can understand, has afforded her the opportunity to reach those who at one time was unreachable. Pastor Villaroel continues to hear the voice of the Lord and is eagerly carrying the torch of advancing the Kingdom of God! To God Be All the Glory Forever!
